Come out to Skirball and drink like an Argentine

copa1.jpgUntil recently, the Argentines were pretty prolific wine drinkers. A few decades ago, they ranked just behind the French, Italian and Portuguese in terms of wine consumption per capita (ahead of both Spain and Germany, and way ahead of the US). In recent years, those numbers have fallen… but, in what might be considered a brilliant tit-for-tat, their production has increased, particularly in the “quality” department. Today, Argentina makes some of the New World’s most renowned wines — and this coming week, you’ll have a great opportunity to taste a bunch of them.

Come join the Young Winos at the Skirball Cultural Center from 6-9pm on Tuesday, October 28th, for a “Wines of Argentina” event presented by Blue Lifestyle (the same group that put on the Rhone Rangers event we enjoyed so thoroughly this past June). Over twenty-five winemakers will be present pouring more than 200 of their finest bottles of Malbec, Torrontes, and every other tasty varietal that’s helped put Argentina on the world wine map.

Tickets are $40, but because the people at Blue Lifestyle are such Wino fans, they’re offering us a great discount: $30 at the door, and $25 if we buy ahead of time! All you have to do is call their ticket line (310-459-7570, extension 4) and ask for the Young Winos Special. Then you just put your drinking caps on and gear up for a memorable evening of South American deliciousness!
